Frequently Asked Questions

Tungsten carbide is the only rare and exotic metal that can be permanently polished. The polish and finish will last as long as your commitment to each other.
With gold, platinum and even titanium rings, you will notice varying degrees of scratching, denting and surface marks. However, with our tungsten jewelry , the surface will maintain it’s beautiful, original finish, forever.
Tungsten carbide is a unique space-age alloy with a distinctly masculine look and feel. Tungsten has an unmistakable dark gun metal gray color and an invincible high gloss that put it in a class apart from any other precious metal.
Many people also enjoy the heavy weight of a tungsten ring. The enduring polish of a tungsten ring together with the solid weight, speak of commitment, security and an everlasting bond.

Should I be concerned with Cobalt in my Tungsten Ring?
Absolutely YES!
Many tungsten and tungsten carbide rings have cobalt in them. The tungsten carbide alloy containing cobalt is easier to procure and rings containing tungsten with cobalt are commonly sold. However, when tungsten carbide rings are made combining tungsten with a cobalt binder, they develop a negative reaction to your skin. After a short period, the ring will develop oxidation spots that cannot be removed or polished out.  You can easily prevent this from happening by purchasing one of our cobalt-free, hypoallergenic, Tungsten Forever Carbide rings.

Men’s jewelry has diversified greatly with the rise of Tungsten and Titanium jewelry. We compare Tungsten vs. Titanium rings because they are considered “model metals” or new to the jewelry industry. However, there are many differences between the two that many people don’t realize. Tungsten’s intriguing new features set it apart from Titanium and have thus allowed Tungsten jewelry to become the hottest, fastest growing men’s jewelry craze in the nation! We also have  and flawless

  • Titanium can never have the same high gloss mirror-like finish that Tungsten can have, yet tungsten can also be finished in numerous other duller styles just exactly like Titanium.
  • Tungsten jewelry is 4 times harder than Titanium jewelry. Titanium can be bent and is very easily scratched.
  • The weight of Titanium is almost non-existent and makes them easy to lose. It does not have the same luxurious precious metal feel of heavier rings.
  • The manufacturing process of Titanium is strictly industrial. It is easily produced using cheap materials involving almost no labor hours. Tungsten involves combining specific elements in up to 40 separate, labor-intensive processes to fabricate, refine, and polish each ring blank. Trust us that ONLY our Tungsten Forever Carbide rings will truly convey the meaning of the word, “Commitment.”
  • Tungsten is about 10 times harder than 18K Gold, 5 times harder than tool steel, and 4 times harder than titanium. Tungsten measures between 8 and 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. (Diamonds are a 10 – the highest.)
  • Due to their extreme hardness, Tungsten Rings will hold their shape and shine longer than any ring on the market.
  • Tungsten rings have been referred to as “Permanently Polished Rings.”
  • Tungsten rings will NOT bend.
  • In the event of an emergency, a ring can be removed by a medical professional.
  • Each Tungsten ring is individually hand-crafted using assorted diamond abrasives and polycrystalline diamond tooling.
  • Our Tungsten Forever rings are cobalt-free.

Tungsten with carbon and other elements are ground into a powder and then compressed with high heat and pressure dies to form a ring blank.
The blank is then fired in an oxygen-free furnace at an astounding 6,200 degrees Fahrenheit. This process called sintering creates the hardest metal alloy used in making jewelry.
The ring is then cut and shaped using diamond tools with up to 40 total separate steps required for completion. The cutting and shaping of a tungsten ring is similar in many ways to the cutting and polishing of a rough diamond.
Precious metal Inlay rings with gold, silver or platinum are created by grinding a channel in the center of the ring and precisely “swedging” the metal into the channel under extreme pressure.
The ring is then skilfully polished with diamond polishing tools and wheels creating a permanent luster and polish not possible with other metals.
A Tungsten Carbide ring will remain polished forever, and is virtually impossible to scratch. It is a unique metal that epitomizes today’s technologically advanced man more than any other.

What makes a wedding band a men’s wedding band?
Many couples are interested in wedding bands made specifically for a man or woman. We do not list many of the wedding bands on our site exclusively for men or women as there is no specific rule as to which bands are for men and women. However, we are happy to provide guidelines to help you make an informed decision and we can even make custom rings.

Style

Some men are more conscious than others of fashion trends and thus prefer specific styles. Some may prefer specific metals while others may be most interested in the form (width, weight, color) of the wedding band. For example, tungsten carbide is a very strong, heavy metal with variable finishes, yet titanium is light weight, much duller and has only a quarter the strength. Often finding out what other style-conscious men in the area are wearing will be a good indicator of what styles are popular.

Physical Build

It is important to consider the man’s physical build when choosing a ring. A larger man might prefer a wider, heavier band (i.e. 8mm), while a more slender man may be more comfortable with a slimmer, lighter band (i.e. 6mm width).

Metal

can be found in a number of metals, including titanium and tungsten carbide. However, many men are more interested in heavier metals such as tungsten based on their type of work. For instance, a man working in a construction field may choose a more durable tungsten carbide band, as opposed to titanium band. Titanium wedding bands are also so light weight that many people end up losing them simply because they can’t physically feel them on their finger. Titanium wedding rings also scratch very easily. And as we all know now, Tungsten rings do NOT scratch! The winner of the Tungsten vs. Titanium comparison is Tungsten!

YES!
Rings made of extremely hard materials, like tungsten carbide or ceramic, can only be removed by cracking them into pieces with standard vice grip-style locking pliers. Standard ring cutters will NOT work.

Place vice grip-style locking pliers over ring and adjust the jaws to clamp lightly. Release and adjust tightener one-third turn and then clamp again. Repeat until a crack is heard, and then continue clamping in different positions until the hard material breaks away. Take care not to slide or rotate the cracked ring on the finger. If the ring contains an inlay of gold, the exposed gold can then be cut or clipped in the usual fashion.
